Semicon presented a unique opportunity for the WNF to display its work and connect with key players in the microelectronic industry, including engineers, designers, researchers, executives, and more. They attended several workshops throughout the day as well as company sponsored events, such as the Unity reveal, which divulged the merger of Fogale and our development partners at Altatech.
The WNF team noted the industry is shifting towards consumers buying legacy 200mm equipment, and topics like Wafer-Level Packaging (WLP) are hitting the mainstream. Even as a university-based prototyping lab, the WNF has been a forerunner in ensuring forward compatibility of new systems to 200mm wafer production. Additionally, WNF internal R&D efforts have been focused on advanced packaging, multi-chip modules, and WLP. Finally, the WNF has entered discussions with several equipment OEMs for co-development and demo site opportunities.
Dr. Khbeis highlighted that the WNF group forged over 45 new working relationships with companies that will likely bring new users and capabilities to the WNF.
